The event will feature remarks from County of San Diego Supervisor Monica Montgomery Steppe (District 4), who serves as Vice Chair of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors and is the first Black woman elected to the Board. District 4 spans Hillcrest, North Park, City Heights, Mission Valley, Lemon Grove, La Mesa, and Spring Valley, among other communities. Before joining the Board of Supervisors in 2023, she served on the San Diego City Council from 2018 to 2023, including as Council President Pro Tem, where she helped lead investments in parks, libraries, and infrastructure in her district. Monica is a graduate of Spelman College and California Western School of Law.
