Embracing Immigrants (and fighting ICE) on Public Transit Webinar

As part of SoCal Transit Month, we’re hosting a special virtual panel to explore a crucial issue: how immigrant communities rely on public transit to safely reach essential destinations such as work, school, home. With the disruptions caused by ICE raids, many immigrant families face heightened fear and challenges, making access to reliable and safe transit more important than ever.

Co-hosted by SF Transit Riders, this virtual panel will discuss the challenges ICE raids have imposed on immigrant communities, from fear and trauma to declining transit ridership. We’ll explore how public transportation can be a lifeline for immigrants and what we can do to make these systems safer and more inclusive.

This panel will explore:

  • The impact of ICE raids on transit usage and immigrant families

  • How immigrant workers, students, and families rely on transit for daily survival

  • Strategies for creating safer, more accessible transit systems for all

  • The broader implications of these issues on mobility, air quality, and environmental justice
