Walk, Roll, and Share the RoadSeptember is California Pedestrian Safety Month, a time to recognize that everyone deserves to move safely through our communities, whether they are walking, rolling, biking, taking transit, or driving.
This month, help make every trip safer by staying alert, slowing down, and looking out for one another. Drivers can follow the speed limit, avoid distractions, and be prepared to stop for people walking at marked and unmarked crosswalks. People walking can use crosswalks when available, look both ways, make eye contact with drivers, and stay visible --especially at night.
Safer streets are a shared responsibility. Take the pledge to keep your eyes up, your phone down, and your community moving safely.
El Monte & South El Monte Youth Public Transit Tour: Griffith Observatory

Calling all El Monte and South El Monte Youth! Join Active SGV for a FREE transit tour to the Griffith Observatory.
El Monte and South El Monte youth ages 12 to 26 are invited to spend the day exploring Los Angeles by public transit. We’ll start at the El Monte Bus Station, travel together to Griffith Observatory, explore the area, enjoy a short hike and lunch, then make our way back to El Monte.
This is a great opportunity to learn how to navigate public transportation, explore one of Los Angeles’ most iconic destinations, and spend the day with other local youth.
Start/finish at: El Monte Bus Station | 3357 Santa Anita Ave, El Monte, CA 91731
Getting There: Metro
Parking: Free on site parking is available on the weekend
Hike Details: Boy Scout Trail: 0.8mi, 365ft elevation
*** PLEASE NOTE: All ride participants must sign a waiver to participate. A parent or legal guardian must sign for any minors under 18 participating in the event, chaperone must be present.***

Participants must be El Monte and South El Monte youth ages 12-26, Chaperones for youth are welcome to join!
Pre-registration is required for all participants. A parent or guardian must accompany and remain on site with minors until waiver is completed.
